American Flag Nails!

So I’m in my final year of uni and tomorrow we have a group presentation. Its all about outfits we designed for Team USA, so I thought, instead of us all wearing tacky American things, we could all have matching nails! Thought I’d do a tutorial even though they are easy peasy!

What you will need:

A red polish

A dark blue polish

A white nail pen

About an hour

So firstly, paint your nails a nice, bright red :) I only needed one coat so try and find a thicker one (mine was Rimmel) so you have less drying time/waiting.

I love a simple red nail!! Anyway, get your blue and whap it on the ends, I did like a third of the way down on my index, middle and pinkie finger and a little square in the corner on the thumb. You could paint straight across but I just started a third of the way down and painted up in three strokes. Doesn’t look too hot on my right hand mind you… Make sure your blue is quite thick too because if you need to paint two coats you might go wobbly on your second try and mess up all your hard work! I also decided to just paint my whole ring finger blue, just to keep it interesting, I don’t know about you but I get a bit bored of seeing the same pattern on each of my fingers! It looks mega messy, and the skin around my nails makes me want to cry, sorry!

So when I told one of the group members I’d be doing flag nails she asked how I was going to do the 50 stars…polkadots! I mean, you could try the stars but if you want an easy life, I’d recommend polkadots :) So get out your nail pen and use the nib to make your dots in offset horizontal lines.

Now just paint in your lines!! I’m still learning how to perfect them (as you can see) so this is probably the best way to do it, you don’t have to do a whole nail! I start from the bottom and draw up the way, I do this because if i really mess up the end I can just paint the blue over it and fix the polka dots, but whatever’s easiest for you!

There you go! :D I actually love these, I hope our assesors will give us extra points tomorrow! I’ll get a picture of all 8 of us sporting (lol) them for you, but for now I’m off to practise my speech, arghhh!
