And a glitter gradient tutorial with glitter and clear polish :)
Glitter gradient tutorial with glitter polish! Sorry for my horrible accent!
I posted the above picture earlier after my first attempt at Galaxy nails. I had a few replies on Twitter asking for a tutorial of sorts so that they could see how I had done it. I’ve never done a tutorial before so bear with me. There are a lot of pictures so I apologise in advance!

Ok, apparently, the rings above are from Luv Aj. Awesome, right? So Candy from Taylor & Demolish came up with her own version of it. Check it out!

Magazine Nails Tutorial! Sorry the video’s so terrible and I don’t have a picture because I tired to jazz the nails up and totally ruined them :( But it’s dead easy so give it a go! And submit your pictures!!xxx
Hello! Just thought I’d do a quick wee tutorial for the little bone nails I have on my nail wheel :) it’s so easy to do and is super effective and takes no time at all!
What you will need:
A dark base coat (I chose black)
A white nail pen
A clear Top Coat
And a spare half an hour
So firstly, paint your base coat! I chose white for my ring finger but we all know how I like to paint one nail different so don’t worry you don’t have to do that :)

Next, get your nail pen and draw a straight line

Then, pick where you want the end of your bone to be an blob the pen there and drag it down to the end of the line you just drew. Do this three more times and you’ve got your wee bone shape! Told you this was easy!!

So that’s how you do one bone :) now to get them in a cute wee pattern! Just draw little lines all over your nail like so…

And then add your little lines at the end of all your other little lines and you’ve got some fabulous little bone nails!!

I added a wee pug face on my thumb and some hearts just to spice it up a bit but a whole hand of bone nails looks awesome too!

Happy painting!
Send me pictures :D

Right so a couple of months ago I tried marbling my nails a few times and it was rubbish, and I decided to just give up. But today I had painted my nails white and just thought “WHY NOT?!”. It worked out pretty well, although I think it takes some getting used to, be warned though, it’s very, very, VERY messy! One major advantage is your you don’t have to worry about your right hand looking rubbish because it doesn’t require steady hand!
What you will need:
A white nail varnish
Two colours for your marble - I chose neon pink and yellow
A throwaway tub - a good excuse to eat takeway!!
A bent open kirby grip - or an orange stick if you have some
Some Vaseline
Cotton Buds
Nail Varnish Remover
A clear Base/Topcoat

Right! So first things first - prepare your nails by painting your nails white after your clear base coat. Next, make sure you’re somewhere that it won’t matter if you get a little messy, or put newspaper down, and fill your tub with some lukewarm water, I chose lukewarm because I thought if it was too hot or cold the varnish wouldn’t spread as well but I don’t really know what the best option is to be perfectly honest. If you’re using a takeaway tub you can use the lid to put all your rubbish on too, so helpful! Right, once you’re all prepared then spread some Vaseline right round all your fingers, making very sure to not get any on the nail. This will make getting the polish off a milllllion times easier!

Now comes the hard but very fun bit, dropping the polish in! You need to do it really fast (I had to get my boyfriend to take these pictures) or the polish sort of hardens on the surface, so don’t waste time unscrewing polishes, just leave them balancing on top of the bottles!! I just sort of tapped the top of the lid and made sure they fell on top of each other - I did it four times pink/yellow/pink/yellow.

Then quickly get your opened out kirby grip, dip it into the polishes and swiiiiirl them about till you get a nice marbled effect.

Next, quickly scout out the area you like the look of the most. I found that I preferred the lighter colours in the less concentrated areas but it all depends what look you’re after! I would strongly advise not choosing an area with thick bits of polish because you will end up with a nice mushy nail that will take forever to dry, talking from experience here!!). Now just slowly dip your nail in…and leave it there for a second! Make sure not to touch the bottom of the tub or you will smudge it all :( again, from experience!

Now, get the other end of your trusty kirby and use it to collect the film of varnish from the top of the water. I just kind of spun it around a bit! Told you it was messy!

Now remove that beautiful marbled nail out of the water and marvel at your glorious creation…hahahaha! I know, it looks rubbish, but stick with me here.

Right so remember that Vaseline? Just get a cotton bud and rub it all off, it’ll take most of the nail varnish with it, then just dip the other end of your bud into some nail varnish remover and you’ll have a lovely clean canvas for your (finally) beautifully marbled digit. I always find the easiest thing to do is pour some nail varnish remover into it’s lid and dip your buds from there, I can’t be the only person who’s lost many cotton buds into the bottle trying to soak some up?
So now just continue with the rest of your nails and once you’re finished just whack on a nice clear top coat and you’re done! AMAZING EH?!

Well…they look ok! I’m going to clean them up a bit and take a photo later, but try them out!
So I’ve not done leopards for a while and have totally fallen in love with them all over again! They’re quick, easy and super effective, plus you can mix loads of different colours and pair them with half moons and add diamantés and whatever, the possibilities are endless!! Thank you Beth for introducing them to me last year and buying me my first ever nail pen!
What you will need:
A base colour - I usually find it’s better to go for one lighter than the spots
A colour for your spots - again, usually darker
A black nail pen - or whatever!
A nice base/top coat
An hour!
I was in Glasgow the other day for like an hour picking up the love of my life, Betty the French Bulldog (and 1/4 pug!), for her little holiday! Anyway, I had to go into Sally’s because I can’t find one down here and stopped in my tracks when I saw these neon polishes!! Ever since WAH Nails uploaded this photo I’ve been searching everywhere!
Well, these polishes are amazing but they’re sort of dull when you put them straight on your nail, so after my base coat I applied a coat of white, let it dry then added my NEON YELLLOOOWWWW!

HOW BRIGHT IS THAT?! I was so tempted to leave them but they’re slightly matte so any marks on it would make them look scabby, plus I felt like I was back in primary school drawing on my nails with a highlighter! Anyway, whatever colour you’ve chosen - leave it to dry!!
Next, get the colour you want your spots to be and just dot away, I like to do them quite big with gaps in between but you can basically do whatever you want! Try not to be too pernickity with them, the odder the shapes the better, try add some swoops and curves, and if you want to do loads close together then do that too! This is also a perfect time to cover up any smudges or streaks if you’ve only done one coat but don’t tell anyone I told you that haha.

Right, looks rubbish eh ;) just wait! So wait till it’s dry and get your pen and just draw around your splodges. I usually do half the splodge, then fill in a smaller bit on the other half, flicks look good too! But everyone does them completely different, I’ve seen so many variations, sure you have too!

Now it looks a bit bare like that so I just do little C shapes and dots in the gaps, you could always add more splodges if you feel like it, I’m just a bit lazy ahaha!

So just keep going on the rest of your nails, the beauty of leopard print is it’s easy to do with your left (or right if you’re a lefty!) hand because it doesn’t need to be exact!

Enjoy!! :D
So I’m in my final year of uni and tomorrow we have a group presentation. Its all about outfits we designed for Team USA, so I thought, instead of us all wearing tacky American things, we could all have matching nails! Thought I’d do a tutorial even though they are easy peasy!
What you will need:
A red polish
A dark blue polish
A white nail pen
About an hour
So firstly, paint your nails a nice, bright red :) I only needed one coat so try and find a thicker one (mine was Rimmel) so you have less drying time/waiting.

I love a simple red nail!! Anyway, get your blue and whap it on the ends, I did like a third of the way down on my index, middle and pinkie finger and a little square in the corner on the thumb. You could paint straight across but I just started a third of the way down and painted up in three strokes. Doesn’t look too hot on my right hand mind you… Make sure your blue is quite thick too because if you need to paint two coats you might go wobbly on your second try and mess up all your hard work! I also decided to just paint my whole ring finger blue, just to keep it interesting, I don’t know about you but I get a bit bored of seeing the same pattern on each of my fingers! It looks mega messy, and the skin around my nails makes me want to cry, sorry!

So when I told one of the group members I’d be doing flag nails she asked how I was going to do the 50 stars…polkadots! I mean, you could try the stars but if you want an easy life, I’d recommend polkadots :) So get out your nail pen and use the nib to make your dots in offset horizontal lines.

Now just paint in your lines!! I’m still learning how to perfect them (as you can see) so this is probably the best way to do it, you don’t have to do a whole nail! I start from the bottom and draw up the way, I do this because if i really mess up the end I can just paint the blue over it and fix the polka dots, but whatever’s easiest for you!

There you go! :D I actually love these, I hope our assesors will give us extra points tomorrow! I’ll get a picture of all 8 of us sporting (lol) them for you, but for now I’m off to practise my speech, arghhh!
Wellll, it didn’t go very well hahaha! I actually really, really like them now they’re done but I started wrong on my nails so just did the tutorial on an empty space on a nail wheel :) Give it a go - you’ll no doubt do a million times better than I managed!!
What you will need:
A polish colour for your cupcake case (I chose the strawberry scented pink from Rimmel!)
A sponge colour polish (I chose Lemon Merangue but Models Own)
A white polish (mine was Models Own)
A white pen (WAH x Models Own)
Your choice of colours for sprinkles, a cherry and some glitter if you fancy!
A base/top coat
An afternoon!
So after I applied my base coat (my nails stain something awful!) I just painted my whole nail the “spongy” colour, which also happens to be one of my favourite colours at the moment…mmm Models Own the things you do to me!

Now, you could do two coats if you’re a perfectionist but I’d just stick to one, remember its only a little bit you’ll see. So wait for it to dry and then get your cupcake case colour and your icing colour! I just painted my pink across the nail and then tidied it up a bit. Then I took my white nail pen and drew a sort of ‘drippy’ effect to look like the icing, you could just do a straight line too if you preferred! And then got my white polish and filled it in to my cuticle. Just watch out because it gets a little thick, but my hand is not steady enough to create that shape with just a brush!!

So wait for this to dry (I knowwww it gets boring, but just scroll down tumblr for a while) and use your pen to add in the lines on the cupcake case. Then get some red and do a little cherry! Or if you have a diamanté add one of them :)!

Now just go nuts with your sprinkles and add a little white hint to make your cherry stand out. I added some glitter because I can’t get enough of Models Own’s glitter polishes at the moment so forgive me!

And there you go :) it’s a bit dodgy looking, I’m positive you could do much better!
So here’s my nails, I added a glitter gradient to my ring finger for a bit of a change. It’s really easy, you just glitter up the tip…wait…glitter the tip and a little further down…wait…and then glitter the tip, further down and a bit more further down! Easy peasy :) <3 Oh and sorry they’re so hideous round the edges, I’ve ran out of nail varnish remover!! I’ll post a nicer picture tomorrow!

Want newspaper print nails like this?
You will need:
a small glass of rubbing alcohol or vodka
10 strips of newspaper (bigger than your nails)
LIGHT nailpolish. white, clear, light pink, etc. anything LIGHT
K now do this:
Dip your nails in the alcohol for a while so the whole nail is wet
press a strip of the newspaper on your nail and hold firmly for 30 seconds. do NOT move the strip, keep it firm.
YOU’RE DONE! Now go over with a clear coat so it’ll last <3

So I think I’ll make this a regular Sunday thing :) mainly because my friend Becki told me she tried the half moons and loved them, so here you go Bex!
It’s probably a bit silly to do a tutorial because they’re pretty easy to work out, unfortunately I lacked a bit of skill in making them look like proper flowers. I’ll practise ;)
What you will need:
A Base Colour (I went for light blue)
A Light and Dark Version of the Same Colour (Pink for me)
A Green (Light and Dark if you have them)
A White Nail Pen
Glitter polishes (Optional!)
Firstly, get a nice and even base coat on the go. Sometimes I’m tempted to leave them as is but I get bored after like an hour! Wait for them to dry before the next step, I could have probably spent time cleaning up the edges for this photo but spent it on tumblr instead. Oh well.

Next, get the darker of your chosen colours and make round-ish blobs on your nails, remember you’ll be adding leaves in so leave (lolz) some space for them! Don’t worry, it’ll look a bit rubbish at first, jut look at miiiine! Oh I painted my ring finger with a Models Own Polish called “Emerald City” just to mix it up a wee bit, you don’t have to do it if you think it looks silly.

So wait for them to dry again. And get your green and just do two little flicks from each blob. Don’t try and be too exact, no-one will notice if they’re a bit dodgy. Then once you’ve done that get your lighter flower colour and just put three marks in each blob, you’ll probably do better than me! Now wait to dry. Oh I put a second coat of glitter polish on that odd nail too, of you’re doing the same.

Right so you could just leave the nails as they are if you don’t have any pens because they actually look quite cute! But I just (badly) highlighted the edges in white and added some little pink glitter hints to the flowers and green glitter hints to the leaves. I then added some polka dots to the ring finger. Wait for it to dry and lastly, seal it all in with a nice, clear topcoat! Lovely!

IGNORE THE THUMB!! I tried adding black and it was not nice!

See what I did there? ;)
